officially on board, been a rc modeller for 40+years, just ordered my first 1/4 scale plane . based on various post that I have read here, I bought a BUSA pup. I have one ? if you don't mind. I am a big OS engine fan, that was all I ran in my hel's and I am looking at the GT33 gas engine. In the post on the pup it seems based on engine choice, you might have to add nose weight. I was thinking with the carb rear mounted that engine setup might not require any nose weight. I know this motor has a high price, but if it helps with weight/balance, i'm ok with the price. please don't hesitate to recommend another route if I am going in the wrong direction. I never turn down free advise.

WELCOME! This is a great site with all kinds of really good advice and experiance out there. I also love OS Max engines, I don't know a thing about their new gas engines, but if it's an OS it must be good! With any short nose model don't feel bad about putting a pound or two up front to get the CG correct.

Thanks for the warm welcome, i live in Midlothian Va. if anyone is close please speak up. I also became a site supporter as well also did not get much feed back about using rear mounted carb motors. it seems like it would help offset the large amounts of weight that is added to the nose. does it interfere with cowl. i ordered the alum. cowl with my pup, so if it does i'm not going to order my motor w/rear carb. Oh 74Ranch is one of my best buddies, it is a 74 Ranchero, tried to use a pic in my avtar but it said it was to big, don't get because I use the same pic on other forums maybe now that I'm a site supporter it might let me.
thanks again, glad to be on board, reading all the Pup builds i can find!

Hi Tom, I can't help with advice on the engine as I'm not familiar with it but thought I should welcome you to the forum.

avatar images here are tiny, KB-wise. I think it tells you on that page what the sizes are.

Hey Tom,
You are only 124mi from me, I sometimes go up to Fredericksburg Va to their warbird funfly which is not to far from you. I am down in NC outside of Elizabeth City, it looks like 460 up to Petersburg is the best route between us. Maybe this coming flying season we can get together at a local event.
