At Bomber Field it was observed when a fly-in style event were opened for early arrival on Thursday, attendees, especially the retiree portion, took advantage of the opportunity. Occassionally at larger historical date events like the Annual B-17 Fly-In there were just as many participants there on Fri. as had been there on Saturday.
I think pilot counts would be better given RV's could enjoy their two full days and pull out on Sunday heading home mid-morning to noon.
Contests could still use this scheduling flying three rounds the first day (Friday) and two on Saturday. Static would beging "early" while free scrambled breakfast was served... What would have been noon breaks would not occur.
