I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mike Chilson for the great job he does managing this site and the wide range of characters that inhabit it. I would also like to thank the fine gentlemen from Balsa USA for the generous donation of the 1/4 scale Fokker DVIII kit which I walked away with at the end of the night. Wow, was I surprised! Now, I am not a huge fan of the DVIII. My buddy Jim, sitting next to me at the dinner and also a first time attendee at the dinner, loves the gangly thing. I immediately thought that he would end up with the kit, along with the gift certificate for Teus' beautiful turnbuckles he won on his own. Well, to make a long story short, he spent the rest of the evening and the ride back to our hotel extolling the virtues of said design and I must say he was pretty convincing! Talked himself right out of this beautiful kit. I will be building it after all and hope to start a build thread on it this fall. Need to spend the next few months getting some other projects finished up and collecting documentation. Anyway, thanks again to everyone that made my first, certainly not last, rcsb Toledo dinner so memorable. Jim and I enjoyed ourselves immensely and are already making plans for next year. He is trying to convince me to have him fly to Tulsa and we drive up so I can bring my DXXI and maybe something else to enter in the show.

I too would like to thank all the manufactures for supporting RCSB. It was fun to sit next to Mitch from Down and Locked. His stuff is really nice, He had his demo running all weekend at his booth, I walked up and intentionally stalled the gear on extension to see what an overload would do.... well nothing, the gear stopped, no smoke came out, and the gear retracted just like you want on the next cycle.
The inner strut has a semi airtight fit (close tollerance) so you get a bit of snubber action to dampen the springiness of the gear.
I cant overlook Sullivan products for the bit of "ground gear" I received.
The crash recovery bag hopefully will remain in its package for the season.

This is what i got from them:
Tim,
Yep, faster would be good. Unfortunately I also own a rather busy software business which is going rather nuts right now. I allowed my focus to be totally Weak Signals Expo from Tuesday afternoon through Sunday evening at the show with 10-15 hour days.
The good news is that they will be out there soon.

If you go to the Toledo show website (shortcut above) I suggest you go to the list of vendors. Most of these have a link to their website.
This is a great opportunity to save any of those that interest you for a later time. Just open the site, and save it to you favorites or wherever you save those sites. You do save the don't you ?
