Good turnout, absolutely fantastic weather, well run, and a near perfect venue. What more could one ask for? Thanks to all of the hard working One Eighth Air Force members and Arizona Model Aviator members who put it together and made it all happen. Now for some pictures.

The Waco had the highest static score of the weekend and it was at least a 99. Might have been a 99 and some change. The model was built and flown in Expert by Mr. Bob Root and he ended up in second place. Very close behind in static was Tom Wolfe with the L-19 Bird Dog at 98.75. Tom's flying impressed the judges just a fraction more than Bob's and so he ended up in first place in Expert. Both airplanes were stunning to look at and imperfections were nearly impossible to find on either one.

Thanks Phil! My brother did not fly and, in fact, decided to put his Hellcat up for sale. It's just a bit too small for him to be comfortable with. A bit of a sad day today as a buyer was found and his Hellcat left the shop for good. We are looking at the Top RC Zero as a replacement. Dennis Crooks was flying the one in my pictures above and it is not only a great flying bird but appears to be very docile and pilot friendly. Of course we will be "bashing" it to include a great deal of detail not included in the box. Can't have an airplane that looks identical to somebody else's after all! :)
As for me I managed to "eek" out a third place finish in expert but only by the skin of my teeth.
