As a relative newcomer, I am sorry to hear this news. I was planning to attend next year.

What I am now especially thankful for is this site and all the expertise and willingness from members to help.

An event I always looked forward to each year, started the season off right. The RCSB dinner was a blast to meet people with like minded interests. Mike maybe an event held at the Nats, Triple tree ect. that scale modelors could have a static show to show their models and  the regular event happening the same weekend. I know I would drive several states to attend. Scale venders might want to attend a show where their products would be seen by the largest group of scale modelors  at one time.  Also to cap it off would be an annual RSCB dinner party.

Sad news, but not too surprising.  Glad I got a chance to finally attend last year (April 2019).  It was my first (and sadly last) time.  Great memories for all.

Maybe we can identify another event where we can gather in person every year.

Left to right, Chuck Graves, Mike Chilson and yours truly (Gary Hethcoat) at the 2018 show.  Good times!  Thanks guys.

Gary

What about combining it with a flying event like Warbirds over Georgia?  Or am I getting
too ambitious?

(the other) Mike.

I will start looking around for a new home for the RCSB Dinner. I am thinking about the Southeastern Model Show the last weekend in February since it is the only large non-flying event left. It is a HUGE swap meet for those that have never attended and it is spread out in three separate buildings. I would imagine some vendors that attended Toledo will start attending it now (some already do). It's a two hour drive south from Atlanta to Perry (30 minutes south from Macon) down I-75. The biggest issue is finding a hosting restaurant there to host it that will do individual checks with that size party. I will start looking into it this winter and see if it is feasible.

Here are two videos to show you how large it is.

Looks like Horizon and FMS moved to Georgia. Everything is stacks and tables.
They have so many people show up they don't want to give footprint for formal
booths. People from S. Va. to Texas to Florida swarming amidst peanut plants...
and pre-BBQ (hogs).

Would be interesting what the ticket sales were last year...pre-CV-19. This has
been churning along for at least 25 years. Lodging, has it improved? I had two
customers in Perry and had to stay nearly 30 miles away.

Modern facility that is kept pig pen clean...literally. Would be fabulous to find
somewhere we could fly into.
