This is still scheduled to GO on Saturday the 9th! Forecast is for 99F due to a front moving in. Next week it's forecast in the 80'sF. Guess I'll go on out to see who shows up! Good burgers and dogs there, always. Pilots eat free, visitors eat for a donation ($5 is about right). See you there!

The temps cooled down today and the meet was tolerable. 24 pilots was the count I heard. Lots of good flying, no crashes. Lunch was fine as usual, burgers and dogs.

A few planes lined up to fly behind the judge's tents.

A large Schtuka.

A 1/4 Scale N-28. Flew very nicely. Might have to build one!

A Motion RC Mig 21 was really nice. Very fast.

Fast fly-past.

On a dirty-pass.

On final.

Almost down.

Sorry, didn't look at the score boards before leaving after lunch. But someone will post the scores on FB.

Nice Photos! I had thought about driving down to watch but ended up working on the wife's car. You know how that goes.

Matt, shoulda come on down. Temps were OK. Lunch was good. No crashes that I saw. So, a good day. Likely all over by now, Noon. The guy who flew the MiG-21 most likely won the contest. He also flew a nice B-1 Bone. Another photog took MUCH beet photos than mine. He had a REAL camera, not a point and shoot! His pics of the MiG-21 are awesome. If you are on FB, you might be able to look at them on the GSW club pages. Lane

Borrowed this from Bob Grove Jr. He's the guy with the Pro Camera setup.

Flown by Ben Andrus and I feel he won the day! First Place in Advanced class. Pretty sure that means he's the Winner of the US Scale Masters Qualifier meet.

Yes, Ben won for the 2nd year in a row! Good flying!

That photo above is from Bob Score, Jr. Sorry for the mixup.

Hey, that's my plane!

Thanks for the credit but I didn't win the Advanced class, Tim Lovett beat me pretty handedly there.  The Mig doesn't static that well so it's very hard to overcome that low static score, especially against the likes of Tim and Darrell Abby.  However for the overall championship the static is only 1/7th of the score so I was somehow able to pull it off.

Those pics that Bob grabbed are the best I have of the Mig, he also got some great ones of the B1

I almost didn't make the drive up there when I saw how hot it was supposed to be, initially forecasts were calling for somewhere around 105*. But that front came through Friday night and the weather couldn't have been better.  Thanks again to the GSWRC Club for putting on a great contest, we always enjoy coming up for it.

And you're right, that N28 flew really nicely.  Fittingly he won his class with it.

Ben
