Welcome!

Let me know what 1/4 scale airplane you want to build as well as your building and flying skills and experience and I'll propose a path from here to there.

Thank you all for your kind words:D

My first model was SPAD XIII from paper, and to this day it remains my number one among all other aircraft. The first flying models were made at a time when RC apparatus was unattainable for a young modeler in Poland, so I made several models flying “on a leash”, that is, tethered.
Then there was a rather long break, and I returned to modeling when health problems arose - and since then modeling has been an “escape” from health problems....

I build recreationally, I'm not interested in competitions or shows - simply for my own pleasure, and I think I even get more joy from the actual building than from the subsequent flying :D

The execution side of the aircraft structure (cutting, gluing...) is not a problem for me, the only thing I am concerned about in such a scale is the choice of materials (in terms of strength / weight), and surface finish - to reflect the original as accurately as possible....

For several years, I have been collecting all available information about the SPAD XIII - I have various plans from different contractors, lots of photos from various museums (including many from restorations of original machines) - hence the idea to try to build this machine in the largest scale for me so far.... Whether it will succeed - I don't know, whether it will be as I dream - I don't know, how long it will take me - I don't know.... But I know that I want to try :D

Sounds interesting, thank you :)
Any plans are interesting to me, because they can show some interesting solution of this scale....

Rumcajs,

I join the choir & welcome you to this site. From what I’ve read from your posts & response, I interpret that you would like to build & detail your SPAD XIII.

May I join Ed of Scale Aero in helping you? With permission from Mike, the founder, I have posted on this site how I super detailed my ( smallish ) Guillow’s S.E.5 using only common household tools, bits of paper, plastic & small accessories found in arts & craft stores.

Cheers,

Gary (Skye)

Try searching for SPAD XIII

Put the cursor on Community in the menu bar at the top of the page, the search function is the third one down.

There are over 20 SPAD XIII threads.
