Quite a few years ago Jamie from Arizona models sent ma a set of prints for a SPAD XIII.This is the one developed from Replicraft prints of the original.
He printed these on CAD on photo paper wings on regular paper.
the upper wing is one piece.. This is 50 %..they must weigh 20#.. the plans are 54inches wide and some sheets are 12 feet long. This is very scale. But a forever build. i use them for reference.
10 years of researching every rivet on this thing. There was not a ton of detail so lots of mods have been incorporated. Being these were cad makeovers there were mistakes made. I got it figured out now.
However it will go into a museum hopefully after i get her in the air.
I am hoping my DLE-222 will power it, but i can only swing a 32-12 prop. kinda small. need a 48inch. perhaps for static display. I am trying to be around the 70LB mark. My first fuselage was 40lbs without gear. The second one way better so far. Lots of spruce in this one.
I do however have a GT 1.4 DR1 that's started but shelved.
I scaled up a D5a from Ralph beck to about 1/3rd scale. talk about detail. This guy was awesome.
If you want scale be prepared to spend lots of time and dollars to produce something out of this world that you can take pride in.
Don't ever stop. Keep the dream alive Scale is where its at Brother!
