I started out with Graupner/JR and used that for several years until I changed to Simprop. About a year ago I switched to Multiplex and the only change in the future will probably be upgrading as new technology becomes available.

I don't know how to answer the question. I have one Multiplex Evo, and one Futaba 9Z transmitter. But then I use Hitec receivers, and JR servos. Systems in the last few years have gotten to be so universal that you can mix and match to find the best components. I kind of like the responses I get when people see me whip out the EVO... Because I'm using a German made radio... why that's plain UnAmerican.... not like Futaba, or JR. LOL

I have a 9 zap wcii with a synth module. I like it because I can fly on any channel I want. I dont use synth receviers because they are much more expensive. Instead I just buy extra crystals and put them in the Rx's.

I thought you had to use synthisized recievers.

You can even use a synthesized receiver and a standard transmitter if you want. A synth. TX or RX just means you can set them to any of the channels without using crystals. If you use a synth. TX and RX then you never have to worry about having to wait for your channel to free up.
I have the 14MZ and it's a synthesized system but I set it to the channel I normally use and have nver had the need to change it. I use FM and PCM receivers as well with the system. If you are thinking about a new radio you might want to wait for a few months, the new channel-less Spektrum radio's are becoming the hot items around the fields. I have a feeling other companies like Futaba will have to jump on that type of transmission mode or people are going to think twice about getting their radios. It just makes sense to me to wait and see which way the industry goes with this new mode.

Rickles:
Futaba has had an SST system for about 10 years. Its original scheme was way too expensive at the time to manufacture according to Steve Helms. They have announced their initial SST offering. I am curious to see if JR will develope their own opsys and not tag along with Spek's dual receiver system.
