Good Eye Rickles!!!

Actually that one looks just like their present TX6 transmitter.  But a darn good sign that there will be things to come soon from the other radio manufacturers.

Bandwidth for lots of channels should not be an issue. I do find it interesting that
it "appears" on the surface that both may be leaning toward inter-operability if in
fact what was stated above is true. There is hope :^)

http://www.spektrumrc.com/

NEWS NEWS NEWS Spectrum will be offering modules that will fit JR, and Futaba transmitters that take modules for up to 8 channel operation. (If you have say a Futaba 9Z or 9C, the 9th channel is only available with a PCM module). I'm not sure about JR (not familiar with their systems) This is great news because you won't have to learn another TX software to setup your planes.

I have an answer to my previous question as to how this different brand module can be legal in the back of a different brand transmitter.

The original spoiler... the Hitec Spectra Synth module that mysteriously also fit many of the Futaba module radios. Was deemed illegal because it used the antennae of the Futaba radio. So without Futaba's oakey doaky to use their equipment to broadcast the other company's part's signal... FCC said it's illegal.

Spektrum plugs into the back of the Futaba radio, but uses it's own antenae...  thus the whole RF unit (geeks call it a deck) is Spektrum's.    BRILLIANT!!!!

Just received this;

More info on 2.4 GHz from Mike Kostecki

I just received notice from Horizon Hobbies that Spectrum will be releasing modules for Futaba and Jr Module based transmitters to convert them to DSM in the spring.  This will include Futaba 14Z, 12Z, 7U, 8J, 9C, 9Z.  All existing JR radios, 347, 348, Unlimited8, PCM10, PCM10s, PCM10SX, PCM10SXII, 8103, 9303 and 10X will also have modules available.  With a receiver these modules will be in the $250 to $300 range.  If you would forward this to the club.  If anyone has questions or wants to preorder they can contact me at 630-778-0036.

It will be very interestin at Toledo this year to see what is available now.

I had a conversation with a friend in the industry and inter-operability does not
appear to be in the near future with respect to JR and Futaba's individual SST
systems. This JR/Fut module release enables these two systems to work with
the Spek receiver.

The Futaba SST system which has been available for industrial control use is
"not" designed to function with the Spek based systems. It utilizes a much
greater parcept/chipping sequence and therefore much more expensive than
what Spek is offering.

It was mentioned that the Spek system is functioning at the minimum level of
four parcept/chipping. With respect to bandwidth it appears there isn't enough
bandwidth out there under this scheme for support of more channels.

Speculation is in favor of both JR and Futaba introducing their own modeling
SST systems within the next four months using a greater chipping sequence.

Spek basically got out of the shute first. They are enjoying the benefits of it.
The third party market should get interesting real fast. I'm looking forward
to retaining 12 channels in my existing existing system...regardless of who is
the packager of the goods.

It keeps getting better every day.

didnt know you had a radio control recliner ED

What I am enjoying here (not THIS site, but the sprectrum issue in general) is the panic it seems to be bringing.  IE, JR has Spread Spectrum, I better go get it!  but wait, its only 6 channels, what should I do?  I fly Futaba, I better switch?

now this is only MY opinion, but it is how its read on many other forums with this "new" product.  I am a Futaba guy (I know Dino, JR is better ), but I am waiting.  this feeding frenzy it is stiring up is fun to watch.  its like the newest Multi-billion gigahertz computer that just hits the market, or the newest version of Vista.  why get it now?  wait, let it get better first.  work out the bugs, and be happy with the better system in a year, when its all working good.

also, being everyone here is jumping to SS, this will work out great.  now flying on PPM for me, I have no problem finding a pin at my field

again, this is only MY opinion, and warped sense of humor how I see this.  will I get a SS system....yes.  But not now, not this year, maybe next year.  when its all said and done, and the sharks have left a few scraps of meat for me to pick at, I will get mine, and have fun.

so, for now, have fun, dont worry, be happy
