That could be part of the "Gearing Up A Model" segment.

I voted for weathering, but if they all ended up on a series, I am sure that I would be interested in the full set.

As above . I don't think there would be many that would not want a set of DVD's that gave all that information.
I already have most of the Platt DVD's and can find new information every time i watch them.

How about this idea- We all know who the 'heavy hitters' are on this website. Wouldn't it be great if we could get them together on a DVD showing off their individual specialties. For instance, Evan on engine installation, cooling, and exhaust plumbing... Merlin on constructing from plans, etc.
Well that's my fantasy anyway....Jim D. out.

I agree with Jeff:
While there are many finishing methods shown within threads of RCSB it would be nice to see parallels to Dave's series with the alternative materials used in these threads.
This to cover:
1. Leveling the surface with specific product references. 2. Priming the surface with specific product references. 3. Faux panel lines with specific product references. 4. Painting with discussion and examples of each material with references to include usage precautions and technique. 5. Post painting surface preparation for final appearance to include weathering. 6. Proper use of paint masks and hints for best results. 7. Demonstrate flowcoating final clear with differentials between paint types.
Thanks for asking !

I think, based on what I have observed, that the Gearing Up type of series would be very beneficial, especially if it took a systems point of view towards putting the hardware in a model. It could apply to every construction type from scratchbuild balsa to fully-molded and even ARF, so be of use to everyone.
With constantly evolving product offerings, especially RC Gear and specialty controllers/modules and other things electrical, there are always new ways to achieve goals. Further, there are tried and true methods of avoiding 'system' problems not just initially, but some time on down the road (runway?). The previous comment about having something similar to an update of the Control Systems is right on the money.

Something covering the electrical / electronic side of things would help me a lot. As a relative newcomer to the hobby I personaly find this aspect one of the most difficult expensive and potentialy model wrecking and an area which is not often covered in build threads.Something covering the relative pro's and con's of the various battery types ,tx and rx systems, charging and battery maintenance, safe rx installation, servo selection ,digital vs. analogue servos, battery ignitions, carbon fuselages etc etc.
The problem with using specific product references when it comes to things like painting and glueing etc is that it limits the usefullness to those people who buy the DVD outside of its home market and who would be better served by hearing about aliphatic glue rather than Titebond for example. Even this has its limits as talk about latex house paint still has me puzzled?
Cheers, Rob.

I voted finishing but I think weathering is part of the finish. Even though the techniques are special to weathering, you have to think ahead to what you are going to use to achieve the desired effect and it's compatability with the paint/covering you are using.
I do know that I would more readily get something that benefits the site more or less directly if the gurus here on RCSB could be pulled together. The possibility that it might have a more reasonable price than the Platt series would be very attractive as well.
