Have you moved all your models from FM (72 MHz) radio systems to 2.4 GHz radio system?

Why shold I move to 2.4?
The way I look at it is:
- 72 Mhz has worked very well for me all these years.
- I hear as many tragic stories from 2.4 as 72 pilots.
- The more poeple that move, the less chance I have of a hit due to interference...

All valid points! I am slowly making the change however! Key word is SLOWLY.

I feel the same way Vicar does. Also I have a bunch of old Airtronics stuff that would require a lot of plug changeouts. Some pretty good 72 MHz has been coming my way for free. I do have one 2.4 system-an Airtronics I won for first place in Sportsman at a contest. Two whole flights on it so far! Only downside I can see is if too many events go to 2.4 only. But then I don't care for flyins anyhow.

A lot of the larger meets are starting to require 2.4 gig systems.
Right now the biggest plus is probably the security thast comes with the newer systems. If you get shot down flying a $3,000.00 scale model that took you two years to build you might just wish you had been a little more eager to embrace the technology.

The current project I have underway is getting the 2.4 treatment. All of the problems I've read or heard about. Ended up being the same type of failures that would take down any plane. Re:bad switches, bad connections, etc. It's just easier to blame the new technology than to admit/or investigate that there was something else that caused the problem...
After this project is done. All but one of my planes is getting converted to 2.4.

I went ahead and switched over to 2.4 while i was sitting in Iraq. I had allot of extra cash and my older 72MHZ stuff was fairly old and not capable of handling the places I am going in scale modeling. I have zero regrets have not lost a plane to radio issues since I have switched.

Randy,
I can see your strategy but to do like other members of my club that completely switched over to 2.4 within a few months to a year of release makes no sense to me. I have to say I benefited from one guy's move as I ended up with an almost new 9 channel radio ... FREE!
It is true that people blame the radio without looking at all the other possible system failures. I took it with a grain of salt but somewhere I read that many (I believe the article said almost all) 2.4 radio interference problems were due to antenna placement and to line-of-sight issues. I have also seen comments relalted to low power issues.
My point is that all technology, old or new, has its inherent problems. Moving to a new one without considering all the factors is not wise.
