I've been flying two years HEAVILY on it with my sport and scale models literally every nice weekend and have had ZERO issues. There is a LOT of value in KNOWING that someone turning on a transmitter will not shoot you down.
We are now in the THIRD generation of 2.4. It's as stable as it gets. While there will ALWAYS be "FLUKES" but I agree with randy and it has been my personal experience (flying at three different clubs) that EVERY issue they had with 2.4 was the same issues you can have with 72MHz.. connectors, battery, and switch issues (most being battery issues).. and of course the naysayers all blamed it on being a 2.4 radio system.. Ignorance is bliss I suppose.
Also, as Vicar says you HAVE to understand the technology. I'm note trying to sell anyone on 2.4, if you choose to continue to fly 72 and can do it successfully great. But I have to much time and money tied up in my scale modes to have someone do something as knuckle-headed as turning on if they are on the same channel. Sorry but I just don't have that much faith in my fellow man.

I went to 2.4Ghz on my pride and joy 12 months ago and it went in on the first flight. It seems to be down to the fact that certain 2.4 gear needs a 5 cell Rx pack for totally reliable performance. The 35Mhz gear it was on previously was faultless on the 4 cell Rx pack. However having said that no problems what so ever with 2.4 since going to 5 cells on all my models.

The only problem I have seen with staying with 72 meg is that the frequency board is not being use properly any more. It could get to be a large problem hear. I am $100.00 short of being able to send for my X9503. Next month.

With the introduction of 2.4 we have new unknowns to deal with. My Son an I made the switch to 2.4 3 years ago. We both fly JR radios and use the 9303 transmitter. I use the R921 receiver, Smartfly switches and Powersystems EQ6.
My son set up is the R922 receiver, Fromeco regulators and switches. We both use Fromeco batteries. Both set ups have been trouble free for us.
We discovered thru bench testing the receivers will not tolerate low battery voltage. We check our batteries before each flight.
With 2.4 We no longer have to worry about someone turning on there transmitter and knocking our investments out of the air.

Once you lose a scale model to a 'turn on', you will leave 72 Mhz behind like I did. I have everything updated to 2.4 now.

I've just bought a 2.4 system since my 35MHz radio could not handle the mixing required for my new glider. Will swith my 3 other RX's over to 2.4 as soon as the MPX telemetry capable RX's become readily available.
Would not have swithed to 2.4 yet, if my TX was sufficiently capable; yet buying a new 35MHz system seemed a bit daft. Not too big of financial hurdle to take for me since I don't have that many RX's yet.
