A big day for Australian aviation today with the arrival of the RAAF's first two operational F35A's at Williamtown air base near Newcastle.

I heard them fly over the city this morning and a spectator said the air force put on a good show at the aerodrome.

This is a very wise purchase by Australia in my opinion, particularly now as we are looking to strengthen strategic ties with the US at a crucial time in the Pacific.  I think that we are buying around 80 of these beasts.  They will make Australia a force to be reckoned with.

Congratulations on the new f35's, we here in Canada will not see our first F35 until 2025 unfortunately. I am looking forward to our variant when it arrives.

sadly our defence review white paper declined to acquire B21s.  Still watch this space on that.
