This is my Der Jager. Built from BUSA kit, powered by RCGF 55, covered and painted in Solartex graphics by Callie Graphics and finished this last summer. I won the best civilian scale built up at the Albuquerque Roadrunner Classic this past fall. Unfortunately most of the pics I have are during the build and have not received the pics of it flying from the photographer at the meet yet. I will have it out at our scale meet in May. 2020 San Juan All Scale Classic in Farmington,NM. Maybe I'll get some more pics then. (my Top Flite P-51 in the background )

Getting ready to build the Balsa USA Der Jager, beautiful plane you have there.  Question what did you do on the
Spandau guns?  I have ordered the Balsa USA quarter scale gun kits as the third scale seamed a little to big for this
aircraft..

Hope tp hear from you soon....Thanks

Mine are 1/4 scale Williams Brothers kits. Cowl, wheel pants and turtle deck are still available from Fiberglass Specialties. Cowl is available in both versions, with engine cylinder blisters or without. Biggest challenge for the build is the cabane struts. Mine are modified with a plate brazed to the top that attach to the wings. This plate helped getting the incidence correct for the top wing. Plans only show two dimension but the bends in the wires are three dimensional. Good luck with the build and feel free to contact me if you have any issues.

Thanks Tim, that's what I thought the guns looked like, ordered them from Balsa USA, have had the short kit & fiberglass parts for almost
four or five years, just never had the time while I was working to get around to it.  I will be making a jig to do the cabane struts, to make
certain they are correct, might do as you did braze a steel plate to the top for extra strength also.

Thanks for answering my post will be doing a build either here or on one of the other forums if time permits.

Tim how did you hide the servo wires for the upper wing servos? Did you use a
sperate servo on each aileron top and bottom or just 2 on top wing and slave the bottom?

Thanks,

Bill D.

Bill.
I just used servos in the top wing and slaved on the bottom because the top has the larger ailerons. An old builder friend of mine told me he had problems with flutter on his originally by mounting servos in the bottom wing and slaving the top. The servo wire is hidden on the cabane using a piece of half round plastic and a flush mount plug (charge plug) mounted in the top wing for easy wing removal. Pretty clean set-up and no issues with flutter. Hope that helps.
Tim

Picture in flight from last year.
I have made some modifications since this photo.
I just took it to Gunsmoke last month and finished 3rd in Expert with it.
More pictures to come.
