Doing small detail work that requires magnification is always a pain for me when modeling. I don't like the magnifiers on an arm because I feel "disconnected" from the item I am working on under it, also I don't care for the drop-down magnifier hoods because they are bulky and uncomfortable to wear for long periods. My search for the optimal magnifier solution led me to Amazon. Join me as I open this new pair of magnifier glasses I found and let's check out the quality of them.

You can find these magnifier glasses on Amazon using the link below:

Received mine today. Instantly impressed. My close up work just got many times easier. Will get my $$ worth out of these! My only complaint is they are a bit tight. Not the manufacturers fault. i must have a fat head!

I might just have to give those a try. Thanks Mike for the link, definitely look like they are worth the $20.00

To be honest, I gave those magnifier glasses a try about a year ago and wasn't impressed at all.
The problem I had was that the lenses have a sweet spot right in the middle, however as the focal lenght is about 5-6 inches, both eyes were not looking through the sweet spot anymore, but just on the inside of it, making the image ever so slightly blurry.
I think part of the problem is that the lenses are plastic.

I returned them to Amazon and spend Eur 63 on an Optivisor DA-5 2.5x Head Band Handsfree Magnifier Visor.
I also bought the Optivisor Optiloupe Additional Clip on Lens  and the Optivisor Xenon Clip on Visorlight.
Yes, this is more bulky and expensive, but the increased clarity of the glass lenses is worth every Eur to me.

I bought one a few months ago and am also very happy with it. I only choose for the head band version instead of as a pair of glasses because I wear glasses myself. The inter changeable magnifier glasses are perfect.

For the European members you can find them here: Click here for magnifier glasses

After working with them a few times, I haven't found that a problem at all. Maybe they have update the product since then? I personally find the type you ended up with rather bulky and uncomfortable. Anyway, whatever works for each person best is what they should use for sure!

Cheers,
Mike
