Sorry Mike -- didn't think of it that way.  But -- I think our clues need to be clear and not subject to debate, lest we waste a lot of time chasing red herrings :-)

I'll repeat my (hopefully non-controversial) question though:

Is this considered a cowl?

OK  lets see if this can help.
Geographically in that area of the world we have- The continent of Europe and close by is the United Kingdom
Now a bit farther North and East what do we have?

Shall I just tell you the answer?

This one was not selected to be hard to find, but was selected by randomly opening a page in one of my "Aircraft of the World" books.

That also contains civilian aircraft, so I continue to randomly open again until I find a Military aircraft that has not already been chosen here.
I think that is a fair way to make a selection.

Sounds reasonable to me....
Maybe if we keep the clues to characteristics of the airplane.

It can be tricky picking clues that make it neither too easy nor too difficult.

But -- we have to be able to narrow it down somehow.  Keep the clues coming, and make them more and more specific and (if need be) revealing until someone gets it.  My $0.02 anyway :-)

As I've already said, I'm not great with pre-WWII birds, but I'm trying to learn.
