Just for info. The Stirling was not as successful as it could have been. The design required that the wingspan would fit inside a then standard RAF hanger so there was not as much wing area as was needed.

Alan is right about the Stirling - it's wing was smaller than the Lancaster, which was originally designed as a twin!
