  • 50 ordered by the French airforce, 20 delivered ... then the factory was bombed and that was the end of its history.
  • Mostly flown by Polish pilots.
  • Its performance was comparable to other fighters of those days, not superior.

  • The pilots had to acquire and install the guns themselves.

Gary, you got it!
What gave it away or how did you find it? I imagined it to be more difficult.

The F.K.58 flew patrol missions, but never encountered German fighters. They were all scrapped after the fall of France.

It was the last type of the Dutch Koolhoven factory, which was bombed in May 1940.

There is a rare color photo of such a French F.K.58 in its hangar ...

Hi Henri,

Welcome and thanks for playing with us!  We need more players.

A lot of us are using the Wikipedia pages, they have many lists of aircraft.  I found they have one of French Aircraft of WWII.  I went down the list in order, looking only at the fighters of course :-)  The clue about how many were ordered and built allowed me to pinpoint it.

I did learn a lot about French WWII planes in the process, thanks!

OK, next clues:
  • Single engine bomber
  • Mid-wing
  • Flaperons
  • Dive brakes
  • Crew of two
  • Fewer than 100 built
Gary

I joined earlier already. This wasn't my first in this thread.
