Here's a couple more to wet your whistle

 1 - 4 engines
 2 - shoulder wing
 3- well armed
4- considered one of the finest of its type ever produced
5 - had good protective armor and bulk fuel tanks that were partially self sealing
6 - It might be said that one was attacked and fatally gored by several Buffalo's.

4 hours and no guess's !   so here's some more to chew over.

6 - It might be said that one was attacked and fatally gored by several Buffalo's.
7 - It's operational debut was obscured by heavy clouds and overcast.
      So nothing substantial occurred.
8 - Allied pilots were said to have a great deal of respect for this planes defensive
armament whenever it was encountered in the pacific theater

YES! That's the one. My next clue would have been the 3 view.

You're up , hopefully some others will venture a guess or 2.

Ok, here we go...

1. Low wing monoplane
2. Three variants were produced but the most produced had just a pilot with no crew.
3. Prototype flew and went into production the same year (1935).
4. While technically a fighter/bomber, it was forced into use primarily as a ground attack aircraft

Sorry, not a I-16. More clues:

1. Low wing monoplane
2. Three variants were produced but the most produced had just a pilot with no crew.
3. Prototype flew and went into production the same year (1935).
4. While technically a fighter/bomber, it was forced into use primarily as a ground attack aircraft
5. It was compared in a positive light in its time to the Ju 87 Stuka
