You make a good point. I for one do usually just open the big book of airplanes and see if something catches my eye. Most of my time is spent composing the clues/info so as not to give it away right off the bat. ! Would guess that I might spend 45 min. to 1hour on this, while waiting for an answer or new post.

Yes you are correct greyghost.

I open a page of my book "Aircraft of World War Two" and pick a random page. I do not try to stump people, I just find a subject and pick the information that is on the page, sometimes if I do not find that much in the book I will open the wiki page for the airplane I found.

I do apologize for taking a long time to post a reply as work held me up today.

OK, I don't think this one has been done before.

1. One of a group of aircraft you'd think was old beyond belief.
2. One that never saw combat or was an exported item.
3. was the last of its type solely dedicated to its one mission.
4. In the beginning it killed pilots that used one important feature.
5. After its initial problems, pilots loved it.

Spit balling here
1. No clue maybe a biplane or strutted airplane in the jet age?
2. Test or developmental airplane
3. Bomber, trainer, fighter single type of mission
4. Ejection seat
5. Like most airplanes the engines were unreliable

Didn't want to make it too easy... what's the fun if a simple google search will give the answer.

It lost a fly-off with the F4 Phantom, but the multi role jet did not replace it, in fact in its role the F4 would be hard pressed to compete.

Originally carried no guns or bombs, but was later upgraded with a single cannon, and a new metal free canopy.

Over its fairly long career it served with many squadrons, though its original order was cut by nearly 2/3rds.
