Well, doesn't look as if anyone is playing, but I'd say the Douglas T2D-1, surprised that between the two versions the T2D-1 and P2D-1's it had a 10 year run.

Search engines makes these too easy when giving specific information as clues.

You got it!  Was it the Langley clue that was specific ? I agree that too specific info for clues is a give away with the easy to do web search.  Ok, so you got it, now give us something to chew on.

3. Was a first in more than a couple aspects.
4. Small, lightweight gun platform. Highly maneuverable, but difficult to fly.
5. Poor visibility and balance was a problem.
