Time for some more clues.

 1 - originally designed in 1949
 2 - high wing cantilever construction
 3 - crew of 1
 4 - was used in the Vietnam war
 5 - single engine
 6 - although there was at least one twin engine variant
 7 - full span L.E. slats
 8 - used in 5 countries
 8 - used by U.S. Air Force from 1958 onward

Upon further review some of the civilian versions appear to have been equipped with floats or ski's. I cannot say at this time whether any of the military variants were equipped this way.  will go back and do some more reading. 
  O.K. I have found reference to the military version being equipped with floats.

I know some one who flew it on Skies on the south pole.
It was also part of the Naval Test pilot school, pool of airplanes that were used for the budding test pilots to cut their teeth on a taildragger.

doesn't seem like very many are looking or taking the time to search a few of the clues. why dont you go ahead and make your guess so I can post a picture or two?
  I haven't seen any mention of the Navy using them  ?
