here's a few extra hints

 
 1 - originally designed in 1949
 2 - high wing cantilever construction
 3 - crew of 1
 4 - was used in the Vietnam war
 5 - single engine
 6 - although there was at least one twin engine variant
 7 - full span L.E. slats
 8 - used in 5 countries
 9 - used by U.S. Air Force from 1958 onward
10 - originally designed and built as a civilian plane
11 - 20 to24 variants
12 - first flew 1949
13 - approx 500 of all versions were built
14 - the U.S. Air Force used approx 241
15 - as mentioned in previous posts some were equipped with floats  and ski's
