Not what I was thinking of,
1. All metal construction
2. Single seater
3. Designed by a locomotive manufacturer
4. Used by China, Germany, and Spain
5. First production 1935, saw service til 1944

This one has me stumped. If it was designed by a Locomotive engineer I guess it was Russian- sort of Vladimir Stevenson! Looking at the responses, I think we have to ask for more clues. Alan

How about a Henchel? Perhaps the HS.123?

Yessir, ran into it while looking for the strutter, which was mentioned much in
No Parachute. By Arthur Gould Lee. Good read
Henschel was one of the less memorable, but certainly a workhorse.
The Spanish Hs 123s were known as "Angelito" (dear angel or little angel), and at least one Hs 123 was in service with the Ejército del Aire (Spanish Air Force) after 1945.

As Sparky said in the opening post, this is educational - a great way to learn about some aircraft.
I have chosen a couple planes and given their hints already. Anyone else who has been tagging along, but not had an opportunity, care to jump in here?

We'll use Sparky's 24 hour rule. I'll introduce the next plane if no one posts within 24 hours of my "offer". (so Thursday, 10 am, Mountain time)
