WHAT! No takers?

OK more clues then.

Right let's see now ...
Start with this.

1. Crew of three.
2. High mounted, semi-cantilevered strut braced wing.
3. Had to fly as slow, low and as long as possible.
4. Only one ever made as a prototype.
5. Had a wooden wing and stabilizer/fin.
6. Metal monocoque fuselage.
7. Had to "keep an eye on things" over H2O.

7. Had to "keep an eye on very BIG things" over H2O. At night.

8. Tail dragger.
9. 4 Popjoy radial engines. Under powered.
10. An electronic invention put pay to it's intended use.

.... Aaand the winner is ....

Arngeir!

Yup. The Airspeed AS.39 Fleet Shadower.

Developed in 1940 for the Royal Navy as a carrier bourn night operated observation plane to "shadow" the fleet. Flying ahead to find the badies.

RADAR did the same job and more effectively so the development was canned.

Weird looking thing.

OK then, here's the next challenge.

1. Single engine, air cooled radial.
2. Low wing, floatplane.
3. Crew of 3.
4. One operator. Not the country it was built in.
