Glen, Yes you are correct!
Lockheed P-2 Neptune
1. Multiple crew members.
2. Monoplane
3. Later versions were hybrid power..... 2 turning and two burning as teh saying goes it had jet engines add to pods of the wings
4. Flown by several countries acording to wiki 11 countries
5. My dad flew the one that had set several records.   "The Truculent Turtle" he flew it after its record setting flight
6. The first clean sheet design to its primary mission. Anti submarine warfare
P2 This is a good refresher on how versatile this airplane turned out to be. It clearly shows its WW2 heritage as it looks kind of like some of the planes that were battle tested in combat.
I had a squadron mate who had flown in these in Vietnam over the Ho-Chi min trail.

Glen You're UP!!!

I should have guessed.  You were Navy so, of course, your dad was Navy!   The Stratofreighter was Air Force.

The clue came a couple pages ago when he said his old man was stationed in Keflavik.

I‘ll post another one a little later.

Royal Aircraft Factory RE8?

The Palmer Aero Cord Tyres tells me British.  Gold Coast tells me Australia.  Checking on aircraft used by the Ozzies led me to a list and among those the RE8 seems to fit the wreckage.
