Look closely at the cockpit shape. You can also see a bit of the vertical stab.

B.E.12?  That's just a shot in the dark to get in a second guess before Henri takes the prize again!   No time for careful comparison. (Also it's 4:30am in Japan and way past time for bed.)

Very very close. Give it another shot before you hit the rack.

B.E.2? If that's not it...well...it's just got to be someone else' turn to guess.

That’s the one. It’s a B.E.2e.

You guided me right to it.   My first guess was the Amstrong-Whitworth FK3.  But the triangular rigging support on the top wing wasn't right.

Something seems odd in this second video.  The engine is started by flipping the prop CLOCKWISE (and the blades are clearly designed to go in that direction).  I thought pretty much all engines ran counter-clockwise (from the point of view of someone in front).

Right then.  Next quiz.  I'll start with some enigmatic text clues  then follow up later with some photo slices.  I'm heading to the flying field today so it might be half a day before I reply.

* Not a biplane.
* Crew of two.
* Used as a trainer.
* Reminiscent of a cat.
