Geared engines (such as the 200 HP Hisso and Wolsey Adder) turn clockwise. Direct drive engines typically turn counter clockwise. You see this clockwise rotation on some S.E.5a aircraft with the four blade propellers.

The R.A.F. 1a engine in the B.E.2 is also a geared engine.
