It's difficult to identify the aircraft in the "picture puzzles" if you are not familiar with the subject or never seen one before.

At least providing clues gives you something to research to try to narrow the choices.  I think you will retain more players

by sticking to the original format. Just my two cents.

It's just a different sort of searching.  The picture shows most of what I could have said in written clues:

* German
* 2-seater
* 2 bay
* Late war (notice the Balken cross)
* Bomber (notice the attachments on the bottom)
* Argus engine

On the last quiz I was able to find the aircraft by recognizing several features, for example, a style of rhino-horn exhaust not seen (to my knowledge) on any British aircraft.  That, plus the roundel, made it either French or Italian. (Well, it could have been Russian, but Russian roundels were white in the center.) French seemed more likely from the overall design.  So I researched French 2-seaters and then "negative stagger" and eventually (after much searching) found the Dorand.

Also sometimes there's not a lot to be SAID about lesser known types...particularly WWI aircraft.

One problem with the quiz game is that most of us have a specialty interest.  For example, Albrecht and I are obviously WWI aficionados, so it can end up with the two of us trading the turn back and forth on (obscure to others) WWI aircraft.  The same could happen with guys with a WWII interest...or jets.  I only happened to know the one jet I posted because I had just photographed one the day before.

Anyway, text or photos, I don't think it makes too much difference.

Here's what I was able to discern from Albrecht's puzzle:

This is a Sablatnig N I night bomber. The N designation (Perhaps for ‚Nacht‘?) was introduced in August 1917.

That's it...and that's why I left the last piece blank.   The Sablatnig N1 was, indeed, intended as a night bomber.  As I said, Sablatnig doesn't sound very German, does it.  Not many were made.  Certainly one of the lesser known WWI types.

Here is a quick and easy one for the heavy metal fans. This is a signature that I have in this person‘s biography. If you can read the name, you‘ll know the aircraft and the unit.
