Glad someone finally got it!  

The Skyvan was a real workhorse in Oman, shuttling teams of soldiers (mostly down south to Salalah), offspring of the British military personnel going back and forth to boarding schools, and oil crews out into the desert.

As a lowly English teacher, never got to fly in one myself.  I had to get around in an old Daihatsu 4-WD.

Oops!  My 'first clue' was wrong. That's the problem with 'first claims', there may have been others ... like Bell did not invent the telephone.

I was referring to the Mexican Revolution in which mercenary Dean Ivan Lamb flew reconnaissance with a Curtiss D Pusher, whereas his friend Phil Rader flew for the opposing side. When Lamb was ordered to shoot 'the other pilot', he performed a fake fight with Rader.

And ... Carlo Piazza‘s fight was in 1911 and Dean Ivan Lamb enrolled the Curtiss flying school in 1912 ... so it's Albrecht's turn!
