And it only gets uglier the more you look at it!!!  Makes the Fairey Flycatcher look positively gorgeous by comparison.  I think I'm in love!

It reminds me of the old steam locomotives were they had to look out the side to see around the engine up front.
Maybe they had a periscope to look straight ahead.

At the "Warbirds and Classics over the Blue Grass" fly in this weekend I was looking at the collection of WW1 airplanes and started talking about tactics employed in combat. I wondered who had the first mirror mounted in their plane to keep a lookout behind for the bad guys slipping in undetected for a shoot down.
I'm sure it was some guy taking his girls compact mirror and sticking it in the plane.

You can just barely make out the pilot's head sticking out just ahead of the top wing.  That would actually be quite a view!

This crate just cries out to be modeled!!!  (The following article describes it as "uncommonly ugly.")
