I was reviewing an old 8mm film (mid fifties) of my dad's and noticed this plane holding left rudder on take off. Is this a Stamp? I think they had motors that turned opposite of American made.

Don't think it is a Stampe, as far as I know they all had inline engines.

Appears to be larger than a Stearman. I think the rudder
is proper proportion to a WACO's. The only oddity is the
length of the landing gear at full extension.

That my friend is a Fleet, built by Reuben Fleet which later turned into Consolidated, then Convair, then General Dynamics. It had a 5 cylinder Kinner up front and a peculiar "rod and ring" landing gear cross struts where one had a ring and the other passed straight through. If you look crefully you can just see it. The vertical fin and rudder were not of this shape to start and a lot of mods were done to give it more rudder authority. I have seen one practically fly sideways with all that rudder. I hustled a ride in one once at an antique airshow in Vancouver, WA. years ago, boy was that a lot of fun!

Dan,
That gear you described is very similar to the gear on my Boeing P12 that I’m building on the David Andersen thread. On the p12 there is a welded box through which the other half of the “X” is threaded. Lots of fun figuring out how to replicate.
