I read the same on Facebook and RC Groups. Supposedly there is a press release coming. If it's true it's a shame and another sign of the major changes that have and are occurring. Too darn many electric foamies.

I just got a reply from Danny... and minutes ago they posted a notice on the web.
[edit - removed double post of the notice]
This is a huge blow. Even worse than loosing Williams Bros. and Tru-Turn if that's possible. ugh.

Well this really stinks. I noticed the retracts I was going to need in the the near future were out of stock after all the sales they put on in February. Glad I didn't place an order, but now I have to look elsewhere when the time comes.

I just look on their website and did not see any notification. Nothing on FB page either though Dino did put same letter on his page.
I've emailed both Dan and Danny S to get confirmation.
sad days, lets hope Sierra keep on going.

Terrible news, but not surprising with supply issues the way they are these days. As for electric foamies, I'd suggest that they've been keeping the hobby alive for the past couple of decades, and many of them use retracts too.

Danny told me they already liquidated the machine shop so unless they outsource I’d say this is final. He also gave me a rundown of the numbers on a typical gear set and I can totally understand the decision. The prices he estimated are nuts.
To be honest if the numbers he is seeing are anything like typical for the industry I worry Sierra is in trouble also.

So lets try this again, Unfortunately our hobby is slowly dying for many reasons, for one we have a generation that is not willing to invest the time to build cause they prefer the instant gratification of a foamy, that leads to less demands for parts and companies like Robart, Tru turn and so many other have to shut down cause their sales can’t sustain them.
You can also blame corporate globalism, the big companies swallow the small ones and they source their products over seas to enjoy higher revenues.
Long ago I kept telling my local guys to support the LHS or one day they would close doors, well there isn’t a hobby shop in my area within a 40 mile radius, and the ones a little further only have foamies and dune buggies, so we have to order everything on line from the big guys.
I dont see this hobby of scale building surviving another 10 years, there simply wont be any companies left to supply our needs, everything will be ARF and foamies, nothing wrong with them, just not the same as a built model.
The signs are all over even Top Gun is no longer.
Just my humble opinion
