I've returned after a ten day surgical tour...sans my right kidney. Thanks to those who sent encouragemenet. Have a prostate irradiation cycle coming in 6 to 8 weeks after I get further along in recovery. Good to be back on track. In the mean time Sam and I have Geroge Maiorana's Tu-95 Bear molds and fixtures. We traded George's Tu-4/B-29 fixturers with John Albers, a close friend of George's and who's father few 29 missions over Tokyo at end of WWII. Everyone's happy with our trade.


I and Sam wanted to create a larger B-29/Tu-4 than George and Skip Mast's creation. I acquired a motion picture CG B-29 CAD of FiFi so creating a 20% enlargement is not an issue. Back when George and Skip created the 1/12 B-29 /Tu-4 Maxsim was the most powerful go to and 24 C cell nicad were the push. We will utilize gear driven motors for power.

Then again, if your preference is built-up construction vs fiberglass our Consolidated B-36H with fiberglass detail components provides the best of both construction techniques. The B-36H features a fiberglass front end forward of the nose strut, E-Prop motor nacelles,  EDF pylons and nacelles.

Worked on the Optica's canopy frame and power options today. EDF best choice is the JetFan 110 Pro generating a full 19 pounds of static thrust
or an 80~86 size turbine with comparable thrust. Since the 1:1 Optica uses recip for power I'd recommend the JetFan EDF. Yes, the 110 Pro is as
effecient as the 120 with less battery weight.

Plug for vacuum form clear canopy globe should be here weekend after next. Worked to finish CNC cut adhesive vinyl canopy "frame" before arrival.
We will sell the clear canopy globe with each Optica kit. Adhesive frame is upgrade for those not wanting to tackle creating the framework from kit
documentation.

A freind one made a large model Optica for a film project. I C power, It was when Optica was in production.
It was good but when he put the flow straighteners on the fan exit the static  thrust went up about 30%

Hi Richard,

Hope your weather is hanging in there as you transition to a wetter than drier season. Sam and my focus has been to offer a broad range of model styles, primarily electric prop and EDF. Larger subjects are appropriate for petrol/gas or 2/4 cycle glo.

Broken down into experience level of builder and flight experience I am focused on subjects rarely found as a choice for a building season. Jack's construction technique requires minimum level tools and prior experience. As I bring materials and assembly technique into the 2020's to accommodate customers are tired of toting models in or trailered behind a large SUV; what was originally a one, two, three, or four piece wing has been upgraded to permit less expensive aka smaller methtods to get'r to the field.

Optica is an excellent example of providing newbees a modern design and power choice in what amounts to be a powered "scale" soarer/glider. It has been militarized and used by forest services so it is not going to look drab or dull. Of the 15 or so constructed they have been brightly colored as well as the original white. Our Optica wing is of proper strength for use as as an EDF trainer.  

Combination of EDF and airframe stators will make for a very good static thrust to weight ratio...equal or greater than 1.623# to 1# of airframe.

Would apprerciate feedback relative to the B-29/Tu4 offering and how soon you would like to see the fiberglass kit. We did not
have the B-29 in our online poll for what was a more probable demand for our designs. Would help to know what you think.

For accuracy this will be a CNC milled fuselage and resin printed plugs for nacelles and detail components. Sam and I are
thinking a 141" wingspan. What do you think?
