Hey everyone! It is one month until the U.S. Scale Nationals (NATS)! It's still not too late to get signed up and compete in the 100th anniversary of the NATS. The date for this year's Nationals is July 6-9. Thursday July 6th is practice and processing day. If you are attending the Nationals you must be checked in and on site by 8:30 Friday morning. As many know, this year in addition to the National Championships we are also holding team selections for the US World Scale Championships. The team selection will be held concurrently during the AMA Scale Nationals. You can register for the NATS at www.modelaircraft.org and search for NATS. Those that are interested in the team trials registration is separate and will occur at site 4. Team selection (FAI) registration and fees are separate from the AMA NATS!

See everyone next month!!
John

Hey John,
This will be my first Nats and I have a few questions.

For FAI do I just show up Thursday afternoon and register for it then?

Can I compete in an AMA class with the same airplane?

Who do I contact to get 3 views verified for static judging?

Thanks
Ben

Hey Ben!!

That's awesome that you are coming out to compete at the NATS this year. To answer your questions.

FAI team selection is separate from the AMA NATS, even though it's held during the NATS. To register for the team selection, you will register and pay at site 4 Friday morning, NOT through the AMA site!! Registration will be open by 8am. The fee for the team trial is $100, and goes directly to supporting the team.

You CANNOT fly the same airplane in the AMA classes. If you want to fly in an AMA class, please do so on line at www.modelaircraft.org. You will NOT be able to register for AMA classes at site 4 Friday morning. You WILL be able to check in at site 4 for the AMA classes all day Thursday. It's recommended that you take advantage of the early check in so static judging is completed Friday morning and round 1 is flown Friday afternoon.

Stan Alexander and Jeff Foley are the people that can verify your three views. I will PM Stan's contact info to you.

Thanks
John

What does it mean to have three views verified?

Hey Keith

Unfortunately there will not be a large tent as in the past. I’m heading to AMA tomorrow (Tuesday) to see what options might be available. Stay tuned.
