The Rebuild has begun!


Yesterday i layed up a new cowl in the original cowl mold. Today i popped it out and its perfect:




I also took a few hours to get the left wing panel sanded down to the fiberglass:






I then got the forward wing tube socket replaced and the big chunk of missing foam replaced….


I took some video’s yesterday and today, so once i get done editing those, i’ll post the youtube links:

Thomas, awesome project/rebuild! 

Just reading your balsa order made my wallet run and hide! Just picked up approx. $700 in ply/lite ply and balsa myself for a few projects and it hurt knowing a few years ago it would have cost half to a third of what it did. As you know a 1/8 x 3 x 48 cost as much as 2 1/2  2x4s! Crazy, but 2x4s cant fly so we must bite the bullet. 

Bomb drop feature? remember the plane but not the details.

Thanks yall, the repairs are significantly further ahead than what the video’s show. So much so that they will be done and the upgrades can begin by the end of June.   The upgrades will mostly be technology wise, with just a few changes to the airplane. Mostly gear doors and improving the looks of the cockpit section and the paint job.

Why? Not arguing against it in principle but I saw definitely two versions maybe three of this plane fly and it flew well each time.
