Hello Ben,

After seeing the photos of the shipping crates, I was wondering if anybody ran into challenges with the size of their crates?

Do the airlines have limits on crate size, or do certain size limits trigger huge shipping cost increases?

Important planning factor for future competition model selection!!!

Regards,
keith

We (team GB) struggled with this for some time, shippers used a volumetric weight for costing, which is weight times volume. What was really odd, we used actual 6' x 2' x 2' road trunks and its saved us several hundred pound in cost by removing the wheels. As silly as it sounds the shippers just put the trunks on pallets to move them around.

We tried to go down the "sports equipment" on regular flights route but that proved to be a non-starter as they were really only interested in skis or golf clubs. We ended up going overland across Europe with FedEx, they gave us the best price around £1500 return for two trunks containing three models. (1700miles each way) Short and cheap compared to David and Mel Law who shipped theirs from Australia. I do not know how much the US paid. I believe they went FedEx Air.

Cheers
Danny
