You know of Mick Reeves for all Brit plane needs.

Somebody above mentioned Vogelzang Aeroscale- they carry JW and are doing their own design Camel.

Also, our very own Teus designed some 1/3 scale models he sells short kits for under the brand Dutch RC kits.

If you want REALLY big, there is the Paolo Severin 40% Fokker E.I.   Its still sold by Toni Clark in Germany.

Quite a few years ago Jamie from Arizona models sent ma a set of prints for a SPAD XIII.
This is the one developed from Replicraft prints of the original.

He printed these on CAD on photo paper wings on regular paper.

the upper wing is one piece..
This is 50 %..they must weigh 20#..
the plans are 54inches wide and some sheets are 12 feet long.
This is very scale. But a forever build.
i use them for reference.

10 years of researching every rivet on this thing. There was not a ton of detail so lots of mods have been incorporated.
Being these were cad makeovers there were mistakes made.
I got it figured out now.

However it will go into a museum hopefully after i get her in the air.

I am hoping my DLE-222 will power it, but i can only swing a 32-12 prop. kinda small. need a 48inch. perhaps for static display.
I am trying to be around the 70LB mark.
My first fuselage was 40lbs without gear. The second one way better so far. Lots of spruce in this one.

I do however have a GT 1.4  DR1 that's started but shelved.

I scaled up a D5a from Ralph beck to about 1/3rd scale. talk about detail. This guy was awesome.

If you want scale be prepared to spend lots of time and dollars to produce something out of this world that you can take pride in.

Don't ever stop. Keep the dream alive
Scale is where its at Brother!

Does anybody know of really scale WWI aircraft available?  I'm looking for 1/3 scale.  Since Glenn torrance and Arizona models is gone.  It seems just balsa usa out there.  Mick reeves does some nice models but I would like more options.  Does anyone have know of any one else producing plans or kits?

Is there something you are looking for?

There is also the Book Called "Scale Aircraft Drawings"
 Volume 1 is all WW.1
The drawings are by W A Wylam and while small, they have a lot of detail.

They can be scanned and increased to whatever size you need.

I am currently building an Albatros D II at One Quarter Scale from one of those drawings.
I enlarged them myself, saved them as PDF's and had them printed by my local Blue Print shop.

Thank you for all of the info. I don't necessarily know an exact model I'm looking for.  I like the siemens shukert and the niuport 17 and many others.  I just want to make sure which ever plans or kit I get are scale vs sport scale. Balsa USA is great and all nothing against them.  I just don't want support scale.

Just took a peek at Oz and they have a few in the 50 60 inch span Sopwiths by David Bodington who I believe was a "very scale" guy who rubbed elbows with Dave Platt. I am sure searching will turn up a few handfuls of others. Simple enlargements and then fudge some wood sizes for your liking.

Dave 'Boddo' Boddington's Pup plan is very nice. Get the 1/6 plan then double it. I built from this plan and the result can be seen in the WWI forum of RCGroups. It flies great, too! The best Sopwith Triplane plan, other than Jim Kiger's drawings, is the one by Tim Royce. It is head and shoulders above the rest and I have a few! It, too, is 1/6, so just have it doubled at the printer's.

JMTC's.
When you double the size at the printers all the lines on the drawings are doubled in width which not good.
Also the Max Printing paper width is 36 inches.
I use an A I program that enlarges the Drawings but does NOT increase the width of the Lines or Text.
Takes time, but provides a much better result.
