Hello Mike yes good topic the fun time starts when you choose your project then start gathering all the information on the subject from that point you are learning about the aircraft .......then the building starts even the frustrations are funny when you look back .........then the semi finish and this is the bit i like the most putting on the detail ..........painting is the heart stopper as you can spoil all you work with one pass of the spray gun or pulling off the masking tape and taking a few layers ......thats when you go and have a few wines ........the nerve factor enters at this stage when you finally get to the field, and all checks out ok ..engine start... all checks made and ok deep breath and slowly on with the throttle rotation happenes and there she is a few clicks of trim and you now look at what took 12 mth of work you land check things out and go for a few more flights, pack up head home tell the misses then have a few wines now that was fun .........cheers John

Its gathering up my documentation at the time to make it all match the 1:1 airframe. It all comes to a head as I carefully work through each page of photo doc to be sure each and every whatever is placed exactly where it should be. Building is a necessity.....bringing you to a point where you are ready to apply your finishing and matching your docs.
When its done....there's nothing that sets one's satisfaction more than whenyou hand your docs to someone to review your work...

Well, my favorite part of the hobby isn't one of the choices so I will say the building part. I enjoy more then everything else the fellowship and interacting with my fellow modelers.

I'm with Ron on that! To me as well the most important part is the fellowship and cameraderie with my fellow modellers. However, building is also a vital part of the hobby for me, so my vote goes there.

I enjoy all aspects...............at certain times of year (spring) I just want to get out and fly, but as winter kicks in, I'm more in a building frame of mind..........I normaly go in fits and starts, certain times I prefer certain aspects, and vice versa...............I have no real favoourite.

I think research is great! I love the what I call 'Sherlock Holmes feeling' when you managed to find something out. Makes me feel real smart... And digging away in history, reading very interesting things is wonderful.
Allthough at times, research can be very frustrating too. In that way I guess it's not different from building or finishing.

I have to agree that the research is a great part of the hobby. I have learned more about the history of WWI and WWII since I started building warbirds than the entire time I was in school. I can't seem to get enough of the history now too but my favorite part of it is building something as complex as a big airplane and watching it perform well, seeing it fly for the first few times. Gathering up all the parts and assembling them into an airplane that looks realistic and performs as well as it looks is such a great feeling. Not all my builds have been great lookers and/or performers but the thrill of seeing them fly was just as good.
Being able to talk to people that have skills such as what we have on RCSB is such a plus too. Sometimes just watching them bring their projects together is as much a thrill as doing my own, almost. I like to work out my own problems but the older I get, the more I depend on the experience of others that have "already been there".
