I am new to the scale aspect of this hobby but have been itching to to jump in for some time now. I have been reading the forums on this site and other reference material for some time now to try and build up the confidence to begin a project. I have built several kits over the last twenty years but nothing to level I seen on this site. There are some real true masters here and to be honest I think that can be part of my hesitation. But i just made the jump and purchased a Ziroli Corsair a few days ago and am looking forward to the challenge. Please forgive me is I ask some questions that to most of you will seem elementary but I hope to get enough saw dust under myself to bring my skills up to higher level as I work through my first project.

Can't wait to get the order, feels like Christmas in July :)

Welcome, I've got all the parts except the cowling and wood for the Corsair. Just post a build thread, with lots of pics, and keep us posted and you'll have all the support in the world. We were/are exactly where you are now when we joined so please don't be shy about it.

Here is a link to a simple build thread that Merlyn did a few years ago.

Thanks,,

I am really exited to get started and look forward to meeting new friends on here. I will open up a build thread as soon as all my parts arrive. From what I understand it takes several weeks to get all the parts from Ziroli. I ordered the fiberglass package and a full wood kit and have been reading every build thread I can,  find so thank for the addition reading material

Any recommendations on building boards or magnet setup? I figure I can get that all ready while I am waiting.

I personally build on top of a sheet of drywall using pins and/or weights. Some guys use glass, other use the magnetic system. They all work just fine and have an up and a down side.

Here you can see I put edge guard around it to keep it in place and keep from chipping the edge. The nice thing with drywall is for $16 I can have a brand new surface in just the time it takes to go to Home Depot and back.

Make sure, as I am sure you are aware, that whatever you choose to build on is FLAT.  Level is nice but flat is more important.
