Did I understand that you are new to building? Or new to building scale? If both, but you have flying experience, then the best way to start would be a relatively straightforward kit, built "stock" (but you can add whatever enhancements you want).
If new to building, again - best thing to start with is a kit - probably a sport plane, but something beyond a "stik" - something with some curves in the sheeting. And all the while, follow some threads from start to finish.
Better to try new techniques like fiberglassing on a model that does not matter so much as a nice scale ship!
