Sounds like your doing a mix of pax and boxes, is that correct?
One of my project ideas is an RV-6A. I hadn't seen a kit since Experimental Aircraft Models stopped production a few years ago. I have a friend that will probably finish his full scale build later this year or early next year. I'd like to build a scale version painted and detailed identically. I'll have good model to work from! I probably won't be ready to undertake such a project for at least a couple of years. I have some much less ambitious plans for the near future. One of the first will probably just be a slight scale-up of a PT-19 originally designed for a speed 400 electric just to build a little experience.
I did just today become aware of what looks like a beautiful RV-6 kit from Germany. A little pricey but it appears to be very well designed. Are you familiar with Speier's Modellbautreff? I don't read German but I did have the description of their RV-6 kit translated and it looks like something I'd like to tackle. I'm just not sure if it's still available.
Happy flying!?full scale and otherwise!
Hi Ray, I fly pax only, I think my company, Lufthansa, is the only in the world flying the B747-8
as a pax version. Have you looked at Jerry Bates website, http://www.jbplans.com, he is a well known scale designer, he is also well known for tackling civilian and uncommon planes. Kits are available from various kitcutters. He may not have exactly what you want, but his planes have scale outline, fly well and are relatively easy to build. I am working of plans for a 1/4 scale Gee Bee Z and have used some of Jerry's design methods. I know of the Speier Modellbautreff, it's similar albeit smaller than the Intermodellbau Messe Dortmund. Unfortunately I have found that each year I go to the fair, the area for model airplanes shrinks a little and the others (cars, trains, boats, static models, etc) increase. Might have something to do with the economic crisis, I'm not sure. However, there is another fair here that has been combatting this trend with a lot of success, it's called Pro-wing, http://www.prowing.de/ This fair is for rc scale builders only, helicopter and fixed wing. There are no cars, trains, boats etc etc etc. This fair is getting more and more popular and will probably be the only fair I will go to next year. Danny
