Hello again! I'm Stephen, not actually new here, but still alive having been very silent over the past few years. A few of the long standing members will remember me, but it's probably about nine years since I had any major involvement with the site! Well, I've still been lurking in the background watching the fantastic models take shape, with particular interest in B-17's. Just wanted to say hello really and let you know what I've been up to and that I'm still around. Those who know me will probably remember me for this...

The onset of asthma in 2004 stopped me building anything for some time, but by then, I'd achieved everything I wanted to in the hobby, and was looking for a new challenge that didn't involve wood dust. Since then, I've become heavily involved in vintage military vehicles ( owning three ) and also astronomy/astro-photography, though still have a strong interest in aviation, both models and full size. After a break of a few years, I did do some custom R/C building commercially, but nothing since 2011.

These are my current toys.

My first Jeep, a "Follow Me" vehicle

Dodge Weapon Carrier, converted to Flying Control Radio Truck

Ford GPW, complete strip down and rebuild

The telescope; a Skywatcher 200PDS reflector on an NEQ6 Pro GOTO mount ( for those interested )

I'm happy to offer aviation help and advice where I can, so if you think I can help with something, particularly relating to B-17's or the US Army Air Force, drop me a PM. Have a look here to see what else I get up to - http://www.sacarr.co.uk

In the mean time, here's a few past personal and business projects.

1/6 scale Scratch Built B-17G. Flying for the first time in 1995.

1/6 scale Scratch Built P-47D Thunderbolt - 1994

1/6 scale Scratch Built P-47N Thunderbolt - 1999

1/6 scale Scratch Built A-35B Vengeance - 2001

Commercial projects wholly or partly involved with

Hi Stephen - wondered where you had gotten off to.  I know you worked with Phil for a while and remembered you had gotten into vintage military vehicles.  Glad you are staying involved!

Hello Steve. Good to hear from you. How's Emily doing? Hopefully we'll see you dust off that flying wing and get back into the hobby someday.

Don't let my wife Lynne know about Emily!

She's fine, and I have a daughter too; Lyta, age four in a few days.

I left there over two years ago, and would rather not be associated with him or the company any more, 'though I'm proud to be associated with the models I worked on. Long story.

I am still commercial model making however, currently building and refurbishing model railroads. One is planned to be 30 ft x 11ft when complete, the refurbishment is a small coffee table layout 4.5ft x 2ft

The large one. This area is 8ft x 6.5ft.

The small 34 year old one before work started.

No problem.

My daughter is learning all about aviation and military vehicles, and just over a week ago, we bought her first Airfix model, a Red Arrows Hawk to build together. It was a difficult choice between the Hawk and doing a Pink PR Spitfire!

She's also getting hands on experience with larger aircraft.
