Normally, I spend my RC time in the Pylon Racing forums and have designed a couple planes, mostly composite, for that purpose.. However, I recently acquired a fledgling scale project of a 1/6th scale Lockheed Orion.. Along with this project was included about 9 DVD's from Dave Platt.  While initially, I wasn't that keen on the whole thing but the price was right (free if I picked it all up) after watching the amazing work by Mr. Platt, and seeing the craftsmanship on these forums, I've decided it may be time to expand my RC world a little...

Anyway, I'm not sure what I will do for a first project but I'm lurking around on this site to see what people are doing in hopes to get something started this winter..

Hi Lee! I echo what Ron said - but for sure spend a few days browsing before making up your mind. The site is well worth it!

For a beginner scale kit, the Top Flite P-47 is a good flyer (just about any P-47 for that matter).

It sounds as if you are no stranger to plans building so you might want to look at the offerings from Jerry Bates or Nick Zirolli. Initially I would go for something with fixed gear.

Welcome aboard!

I've been looking around a bit during my "lunch" time at work

I know it's probably crazy but I've been reading one of the threads on a Tempest build..  I've always loved that airplane.. I know, definitely not the easiest choice but... Still researching though and will look into the P-47.. I've always been the type of modeler that wants something different though.. Granted, that hasn't always turned out for the best...

Thank you for the welcome.. I will definitely sign up.. The craftsmanship I've seen in here is amazing..
