Hello all ! Been to this site several times over the years as a visitor and decided that with a project that I am pondering that I am struggling to find some information on that I might get lucky and find someone to chat with and obtain some good sound information if I joined and posted a few questions. With that I wasn't sure where the appropriate forum would be to do this. It would be questions about building from a specific set of Plans that is a Biplane Racing plane. I didn't want to start off with posting in the wrong forum and get shunned  . Been building from plans for 10+ yrs and looking forward to learning something new.

Thanks

Welcome, We have a place for "other designers" just for this sort of thing... Also as opposed to the "other forum" you will never be shunned around here.

Also you will need to become a site supporter to post pics and such. It'll be the best 20 buck you ever spent.

GW,
Welcome to the site, which Biplane are you thinking about I hold the USRA record in Biplanes when we had enough interest in the biplane class.

Hi Got! Mark is right on all 3 counts - no shunning here! Other designers would be a good place for a build, or possibly the Scratch Building thread (but if you are working from someone else's plans then Other Designers is the best bet).

There are a lot of very talented and helpful people here - seems like scale modelers like to share!

Welcome aboard!

Thanks, that is one good lookin' bipe. I did see a few of these while doing my research. I like and am looking at Wendell Hostetler's Full Tilt Boogie. Although I am not interested in entering the racing scene I do like the profile and the lines of it. My delemia is that I found out that the Pants and Skirts for it are no longer being produced, kinda disheartening actually for the reasons of you can still purchase plans but not buy these parts. But I was hoping to find someone that may have been in the same position or may even be setting on these to sell. My other alternative is to make my own.
Thanks again for the welcome!

If you are doing sport scale there are several vendors who still make fiberglass pants or it is possible to carve your own. Yes the gear will be a challenge. Our experience at USRA was to avoid planes with the gear in the wings as they will eventually tear up the wing causing a compromise of the wing to withstand high G.
The gear on my Sundancer is carbon fiber from TNT.

Are there plans available for the Sundancer? Who handles the extra for it? I may just change course as I have just about exhausted my search for the parts for this one.
Thanks!

It was a kit from R&R. It is all composite I got the last one they produced. They will make a kit for you if ou want 5 but that was years ago they might not be interested, I think they are doing UAV stuff now. I don't know where you are but they are in San Jose, CA.
There is another similar design but the gear is in the wing at the dihedral break so I am not recomending it.
You only get two more post, get out your wallet, it will be the best $20 you spend this year.
