HOBBY - noun "An activity done regularly in one's leasure time for pleasure"
Greetings to you all! I wrote this from the hotel room in Toledo, Ohio while attending the big hobby trade show they host every year. Wandering through the isles of the trade show here it reminds me how much our hobby has changed over the years. Some things for the good and some things for the bad. One interesting thing I noticed was how many folks were walking around complaining about this and about that to anyone who would listen.
Way to often we all see to many people get very upset about things that they cannot control these days. This seems to extend into our hobby more often these days. While we all should stand up for what we are passionate about, sometimes you have to step back and take a reality check about what is really important in your life and what isn't. The whole idea of a hobby is to ENJOY yourself, not get worked up and bent out of shape. I love our hobby and will do anything I can to promote it and preserve it so future generations can enjoy it. However, I hope you all (as well as myself) will not allow others to "bring you down" at the flying field, on the web, or at an event. Negativity in a pleasurable activity is not a good mix.
So with all that said I have a renewed attitude about our great hobby and hope you will take a few moments and think about this also. 2016 flying season is going to be FUN and if you have drama or want to constantly complain, please don't do it to me or here on RCSB. We are here to have fun and enjoy our wonderful hobby. :-)
Have a great April! Mike

Agreed. As Mike said there is enough "Negativity" in our world to deal with. I love to smell fresh balsa, building a kit or scratch built aircraft and seeing it take flight. As most of my models are 4-cycle nitro power-plants I love to smell the exhaust as the model flies past. Lots of good times and memories. My grandson who is Autistic loves anything that flies, especially WWII aircraft. We attend airshows as they come around here in Utah. This kid is a walking encyclopedia and he amazes people on his knowledge of aircraft especially the radial engine types. We have developed some wonderful memories together. Let's have fun out there and share the knowledge!

I'm with you Mike, my 2016 flying season is going to be as fun as I can make it.
But, we got to have a little drama. I mean maiden flights or first flights of the season can be pretty dramatic, sometimes
The other Mike.

Mike, from across the pond, it's just the same over here! There's always a tinge of sadness when you hear folk grumbling on about this or that or the other! Like you I always enjoy my hobby, even when I've decked a model that took me 3 years to build, at least I learn something. 2016 is going to be a big year for me especially flying over in your part of the world in October at a full size warbird show flying my "little" warbird with the real warbird!!
