This month is a little off topic from R/C Scale Building but very pertinent to this site and your safety on the internet. This is about keeping your Web Browser up to date. Over 40% of members on this site use a browser that is more than two major versions old. That means they are exposing themselves to malware, viruses and other nasty things out there on the internet. Modern Web Browsers are great about keeping themselves updated automatically and include lots of features that help keep the nasty stuff off your computer, tablet, or phone.
First of all, I recommend if you are not running a modern browser then you should upgrade your current browser or install a second browser if you can't upgrade your current browser for work or other reasons. If you are not sure what browser or version you are running you should visit the site https://updatemybrowser.org/ . It will tell you which browser and what version you are running and a link to update your browser if you need to.
RCSB will also be implementing a notification for members in the near future to let you know if your browser needs to be upgraded for security reasons or if it is no longer supported by this site (for the really old browsers). It will appear at the top of the page and can be dismissed and will look something like this.
It is important moving forward to get everyone up and running on the modern browsers because we cannot support the older ones any longer. It just takes to much time and effort to write code specific for these browsers that are no longer supported. It is impossible with our resources to move forward without setting this requirement. But most importantly, it increases your safety on the internet!

Mike
Thanks for that info, I have put a shortcut to the Update My Browser on my desktop so that it will be easy to check it out on a regular basis. Maybe something to suggest?
Regards,
Alan
