Hi all. FNG to scale building checking in. I have been building kits, SIG, Guillows and lots of plastic for years. After my flying buddy picked up a Pica 1/5 P-51D that was partially built for $50 the urge to build scale has hit me and I am starting yet another hobby . I am currently beginning research on my first build a 1/7 scale FW 190-A3 used by JG2 in North Africa. Plans are from Gary Brown. After that build I have a set of Brian Taylor plans for a 1/7 Typhoon that I definitely want to get built and flying. For those interested I am located in the frozen tundra of MN, and when not working or building I am also a Assistant Scout Master for my sons Boy Scout Troop (another 40 hr/wk job). I'll be lurking and building on my base of knowledge to hopefully be successful in this hobby.

Welcome aboard Brian. We're glad you found us. I suggest you start a build thread so we can watch you go through the process. That way if you have any problems there will be plenty of help available. Who knows, you may teach us a trick or two. Everyone has something to offer.
Again, welcome aboard.

Hyea Brian, welcome aboard - and thanks for doing your bit with the Scouts.
There is a group in your general area, Minnesota Big Birds- would be good if you could hook up with them too.
If you don't fly RC already be sure to get yoursefl a trainer and learn to fly on that before trying on the FW!

Thanks, guys.
I'm just getting back into rc flying after many years away and I have 4 trainers right now, 3 parkfly ep's and a SIG Kadet LT-40 that I am finishing up right now. My flight skills right now put me in the Gravity Validation Specialist category but I plan on spending a lot of time out crashing, er I mean flying once the tundra thaws enough that I wont freeze bits off when I'm out.
Jeff, thanks for the lead on the Big Birds, my buddy Travas and I will look them up and see if we can get his P-51 out to one of their fly in's once its done.
We've got our scouts into rc flying and are taking them on a tour of SIG's factory in June, hopefully I'll have some funds for goodies when I get down there.

Might I suggest a Cub as your first scale airplane? Most fighter pilots fly that or similar before they stepped up to 1000+HP Merlin.
welcome to RCSB!

Welcome aboard! If you are around the Twin Cities, there are several good clubs and good shops also! I got into the hobby when I was up there in Eagan and it spoiled me
