I'm Jim and I am new to RCSB. I've been in the hobby about 34 years and love to fly and build various models (particularly warbirds). I'm working on my Hangar 9 80" Taylorcraft putting in a JC EVO 28cc. It's a really nice ARF!
I am a member of the Canandaigua Sky CHIEFS here in the beautiful Finger Lakes of western NY state. We have a very friendly club and I have been hosting the weekly winter once a week build night. We are currently doing the T-50 foam jet pusher prop from PDF plans we got at RCPowers.com. It's a fun little project.
I've built many scale planes from kits over the years, PICA, Royal, and my favorite Master Scale Kits. Too bad they are not with us any more. I loved the magazine "Model Builder! I built an 80" mid-wing called the Big Foiler with a Quadra 42 for power. As I mentioned warbirds are my favorite and I have built and flown/fly various sizes and configurations of the Me-109. Coupled with "my need for speed" thus my handle "Maverick_me-109". I think I'll really enjoy this site.

Hi Jim - welcome to RCSB (be sure and tell your friends about us). So sad to see so many of the great magazines disappear - but RCSB certainly fills the void, at least as far as scale is concerened - and you don't have to wait a month, we have new content daily!
Be sure and check out the site supporter program http://www.rcscalebuilder.com/page_display.asp?pid=5 - the first walkaround download is worth the subscritpion price!

Welcome to RCSB Jim. I hope you will become a site supporter, As for advise & or help, the guys here can't be beat,IMHO. Are you talking about the old Jemco Master series kits of the SBD & P-51B? They were great but only for a builder--- no ARF here. again, welcome & looking to see your builds.

Hi Jim, when I joined the site, P-51B had already been taken by someone else.

warbirds, you bet I am. hard to pick which one I like best, so, I'll stick to liking them all. I do like the A-20 Havoc & f4f wildcat a lot tho. P-51B/C is in there also, but we see too many 51's being modeled IMHO. Which of the Master Scale Kits did you build? Hows the vTaylorcraft coming along? should be a strong flyer .Bet you gained your carving skills on the old Royal kits.
take care
